How to be an Alpha Female Like Oprah

In a lot of the books I’ve read and the websites I’ve visited there’s a lot of discussion on what makes an alpha male. An alpha male is determined, he’s physically fit, he’s the leader of other men and women, and so on so on. But there is not a lot of information on what makes an Alpha Female.

In my opinion, there is confusion that the characteristics of an alpha female are the same as the alpha male, and yet if you look at female C.E.O’s they aren’t always admired the way that Oprah Winfrey is. Oprah has some interesting characteristics that make up the alpha female.

Oprah has Secrets about Other People She’s Willing To Share

The alpha female of a group of females is the one that has the most secrets about the group. She has the uncanny ability to know about the lives of the women she surrounds herself with. She knows who has recently broke up with their boyfriend, who has recently been engaged, and who recently found a new boyfriend.

The alpha female carries with her a lot of personal information about other group members. What makes her alpha is that she knows exactly how much information from the secrets she should reveal without making the person that shared the secret feel offended. Nor does she make that person feel that a breach of trust has occurred.

Yet because she carries information that other females don’t know this makes her a valuable connector to new information. It’s similar to gossiping without being viscous. Women will always go back to her because she will always have new news to share, or have a juicy piece of information that gets women talking. This is why Perez Hilton (I know he’s not a she) is so popular. She has so much secrets about other people and shares it with others.

Oprah has a lot of information, or little secrets, about other people’s lives that she is willing to share, or is able to get people to share.

Oprah Genuinely Cares about her Female Friends

The alpha female must care about the women that are in her group. She must genuinely care about her friends when they come to her. She will be patient and listen carefully. She’ll be supportive and open without being judgmental. This is why people are willing to share deep personal secrets with her and trust her with important information.

There’s no doubt that Oprah cares about the people she works for. She’s been through a lot in her own life, and she doesn’t go judging other people. She only hopes to hear their story to help support them in improving their lives.

The alpha female will be concerned about the happiness and wellbeing of all her female friends.

Oprah will Discuss before Coming to Conclusions or Making Decisions

The alpha female believes in ensuring that group coherency is maintained. She ensures that before decisions are made that can affect any member of her female friends she will ask for their input to ensure that all the women feel valued. Though she eventually knows that decisions and conclusions need to be made, she always ensures that all female voices are heard first and never devalued.

The tricky part of being the alpha female of a group of women is that she must find a way to keep the peace among all her friends. She may not necessarily be the most confident, she may not be the one that attracts the most men or the one dresses the best. Being an alpha female means the ability to connect with women on deep level that creates lasting trust.

How about yourself, what do you believe it takes to be the alpha female of a group?
